BBQ Sauce
When I want barbecue sauce at home, I like to make a simple ketchupy one with Dr. Pepper and Jäger. It's pretty easy to make and customize to your tastes. I bet a cola and orange liqueur sauce would kill.
WHAT YOU NEED
- 250ml (1 cup) diet dr. pepper
- 1 tbsp jäger
- 8 tbsp (1/2 cup) ketchup
- 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp white vinegar 5% (the basic kind)
- 1 tsp american yellow mustard
- a dash of red hot sauce (your fav one ≖‿≖ )
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 tbsp (1/4 cup) brown sugar
- 3/4 tsp adobo
- 1/2 tsp chile california powder (sub: 1/4 tsp paprika + 1/4 tsp cayenne)
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/8 tsp chinese five spice (totally optional, but it does round things out if you have some!)

HOW-TO
- Put everything in a small pot, bring to a boil, and whisk it all together.
- Reduce heat to medium and let cook until it's almost the consistency you want. It will thicken a little more as it cools and you can always cook it a little more or thin it out with water to adjust, so don't trip too much about it.
- Whisk in the Jäger and let cook a minute or two more, just until the boozy taste cooks off.
- Pour in a jar and keep it in the fridge. It'll keep for a while. I don't know how long.
